Virupaksha Temple
Built centuries before the Vijayanagar Empire in the 7th- century, this Shiva temple is one of the oldest functioning temples in India. Its tall gopurams, walls, pillars, and panels are adorned with exquisite carvings from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. The temple annually celebrates the wedding of Lord Shiva as Pampati and Goddess Parvati as Pampa.
Vijaya Vitthala Temple
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Vithala, this grand temple gives you a glimpse of the brilliant architectural & artistic minds of the bygone era. Built-in Dravidian style and embellished with intricate carvings, this temple is home to many iconic structures like the stone chariot and the seven-pillared hall where each pillar represents a musical instrument.
Royal Enclosure
Once the seat of power in the influential Vijayanagar Kingdom, the Royal Enclosure is now in ruins that stand tall after hundreds of years, singing about the glory of the days gone by. A mix of local architecture and shades of Mughal influence, the Royal Enclosure is home to beautiful structures like The Mahanavami Dibba, royal bathing pavilions, Hazara Rama temple, 100-pillared Durbar Hall, and many relics of past.
Lotus Mahal
A magnificent piece of architecture, Lotus Mahal, is one of the few buildings spared by the ravages of time & history. A blend of Indo-Saracenic architecture, this stunning palace was once the social hangout for the royal ladies.
Hemkuta Hill
