Pushkar Lake
Pushkar Lake, the focal point of Pushkar, is fringed by scores of temples and bathing ghats thronged by people performing religious rituals. Believed to have been formed when Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower on the earth, the lake lends its name to the city. One of the five sacred lakes in Hindu mythology, the waters of Pushkar Lake are believed to absolve you of all your sins and grant salvation.
Brahma Temple
Dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, this is one of the few Brahma Temples in the world. This pillared edifice, with the motif of a swan at the entrance, is over 2000 years old and an important Hindu pilgrimage.
Savitri Temple
This hill-top temple, dedicated to Goddess Savitri, is accessible either by a steep climb or a ropeway. It is a beautiful trek with spectacular views of the lake, city, and surrounding sand dunes from the summit.
Varaha Temple
This early 12th-century temple is dedicated to Lord Vishu in his incarnation as Varaha or the wild boar. Destroyed by invaders, the temple was rebuilt by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century.
