Kumari Amman Temple

An ancient temple that stands at the confluence of the three seas, Kumari Amman Temple is home to the Virgin Goddess Kumari, the presiding deity of the town. A striking statue of the Goddess stands facing the sea in the east. It is believed that the deity’s ruby-studded nose-ring sparkles brightly at night, giving the impression of a lighthouse and thus causing wreckage to the ships. Therefore the eastern temple doors are shut all year except during the temple festival. 

Thiruvalluvar Statue

A quick ferry ride away from the mainland, this 133ft statue of the Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar commemorates the 133 chapters of this famous work Thirukkural.
